It seems that Group A of Euro 2016 may provide some surprising outcomes as today Iceland managed a 1-0 win against Netherlands that reaffirms their position as group leaders.
Second placed, Czech Republic, also managed a win against Kazakhstan that provides them a six point lead over third place Netherlands.
Today’s results may lead to a historic qualification for Iceland. On the other hand, Netherlands chances to qualify to Euro 2016 are very slim as they trail second placed Czech Republic by 6 points with only three matches left.
Netherlands need a sporting miracle to qualify to Euro 2016. No one was expecting them to be in the current situation as they’ve been a dominant force in recent years even though they haven’t managed to win a title.
Iceland will be facing tough competition from Czech Republic to end the group as winners and automatically qualify to Euro 2016. They will want to avoid the play-offs as they have already suffered heartbreak at stage of the competition in the past.
