Italy secured another 3 points today thanks to a 1-0 win against Bulgaria.
As in last last Thursday’s win, against Malta, although they’ve created several chances they did not manage to close the match. In fact they also risked conceding an equalizer towards the end of the match.
After only four minutes Italy had a penalty whistled as Minev fouled Candreva in the box. Daniele De Rossi converted the penalty to provide an early lead for the Italians.
Apart from some occasional attacks by Bulgaria, the match was one sided with the Italian side creating various scoring chances. In the 55th minute of the match De Rossi and Micanski got sent off for violent conduct.
Towards the end of the match, in the 90 minute, Milanov had a superb effort on goal well saved by Buffon. That was the last threat for Italy.
Today’s win means that Italy lead Group H as Croatia lost 2-0 against Norway. Italy are now two points above Norway and three points above Croatia. They will need to win the remaining two matches to secure first place and automatically qualify to Euro 2016.
