Juventus eyeing more transfer action

Julian DraxlerJuventus kick started the transfer window with style as they secured the signatures of Daniele Rugani, Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira. They went on to add more quality signings to their squad as they also signed Croatian International, Mario Mandzukic, and Brazilian goalkeeper Neto. The signings weren’t the only transfer movements they’ve made as they’ve also parted with three important players in Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and most importantly Carlos Tevez.

Until a few weeks ago, it seemed that the signings were going to compensate the departures and strengthen the squad further. At that point Juventus were eyeing an attacking midfielder that could increase the overall attacking quality of the bianconeri. Since then, much has changed with various injuries trimming the squad. The first to succumb to injury was Andrea Barzagli, closely followed by Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira and more recently Alvaro Morata. These injuries have resulted in limited resources, both in defence and midfield.

This injury crisis has led Juventus to revise their transfer strategy with a central defender and central midfielder topping the list. Juventus have been linked with German international, Heiko Westermann, to bolster their defensive options. Westermann is currently a free agent as his contract with Hamburg wasn’t renewed. At 31 years of age he still has plenty to offer, with his international experience making him a precious resource. In the midfield compartment, various names have been linked to Juventus such as Inter’s Guarin and Wolfsburg’s Luiz Gustavo. We question such rumours and insist that Julian Draxler is the main target of Juventus. Allegri has already stated that he sees Draxler both as a central and attacking midfielder which would allow them to hit two birds with one stone. In recent weeks there has been a lot of rumours around this move. Although Schalke 04 are playing tough to get it seems that an agreement may be reached, especially since Draxler has already agreed terms with Juventus.

Last but not least, Juventus are also on the hunt for a left-back that may alternate with Evra. Alex Sandro is their primary objective but Porto are holding tight to their high demands that are significant for a player that will be released in a year’s time. In the meantime Juventus are also eyeing Atletico Madrid’s left-back, Siqueira, should they not be able to sign Alex Sandro.

As you may notice from the above, Juventus squad is far from complete with at least three signings looking to take place by the end of the transfer window.

Do you like the way the Juventus squad is shaping up?
