The Daily Mirror are claiming that Liverpool may attempt to sign Hoffenheim and Brazil attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino, who reports in Germany suggest is close to sealing a £13.1million to Manchester United.

However, the German club are believed to be looking for a deal worth closer to £20million for their prize asset.

Offered

The Mirror claim that the Reds have been offered the opportunity to beat their North West rivals to the versatile Brazilians signature.  Signing the Firmino ahead of United would be something of a coup for Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irish boss will be looking to replace the creativity and goals from midfield that departing captain Steven Gerrard gave the team. Firmino would certainly pose a goal threat from an attacking midfield position.

Highly-rated

Firmino is highly-rated and has scored 49 goals in 153 games during his five year stint with Hoffenheim. The 23-year-old is currently away on international duty with Brazil. Firmino has scored three goals in his eight appearances for the Selecao.

Firmino is highly versatile and can play on either wing, as well as a central midfielder and a central striker. His versatility is just an added bonus to any club looking to sign the former-Internacional star this summer.

Premier League

It looks like Roberto Firmino will be playing his football in the Premier League next season.

As he has shown in the Bundesliga he is a player that can light-up a game with his skill and goalscoring ability. The attacking midfielder should be a great addition to the English top-flight next season.

Whether he will be playing at Old Trafford or Anfield only time will tell, but whoever signs Firmino could be signing a superstar of the future this summer.
