Manchester City are being linked with a move for West Brom’s promising young striker Saido Berahino

According to the Daily Mirror, Premier League title hopefuls Manchester City have entered the race to sign West Brom’s highly-rated young forward Saido Berahino, who is in-demand this summer.

Tottenham and Newcastle have both been linked with moves for the England under-21 international.

The 21-year-old is considered one of most promising players in the English game and has often been linked with a move away from the Hawthorns.

It seems the striker may actually move on this summer, with the Baggies rating the youngster at £25million. Last season was Berahino’s first full season as a Premier League player and he registered 14 league goals in a Baggies team seemingly light on creativity.

His rise has obviously not gone unnoticed by other top-flight clubs. City’s spending has been concentrated on English players this summer, with Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and Patrick Roberts the Citizens only signings so far.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side would have the upper hand if they decide to pursue their interest in the striker, as the Chilean will have far bigger financial resources available to him than his counterparts at Spurs and Newcastle.

City could be low on strikers after Steven Jovetic left for Italian club Inter Edin Dzeko is being linked with a move to their Serie A rivals Roma. That means City have just Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony as their recognised striking options.

Berahino does have potential, but City will no doubt have to flex their financial muscle if they are to sign the promising young forward this summer.

Will Manchester City sign Saido Berahino this summer?
