Following their superb 3-0 victory over title rivals Chelsea on Sunday Manchester City could be set to further strengthen their squad.

The English tabloids are heavily linking the Citizens with a move for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi and Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin de Bruyne.

City have been linked with a move for De Bruyne for much of the summer and are believed to have had a number of bids turned down for the Belgian international.

However, De Bruyne is reported to be keen on a move back to the Premier League, after a failed stint at City’s title rivals Chelsea.

A move for Otamendi seems like a strange one, as the Citizens have kept two clean sheets from their opening two Premier League games, with Eliaquim Mangala and Vincent Kompany looking relatively solid at the heart of the City defence.

Mangala has been linked with a move away from City this summer, after enduring a difficult debut campaign in the English top-flight, with Roma mooted as a possible destination for the highly-rated 24-year-old.

However, the French international has looked far more confident in the opening games of the campaign and signing Otamendi would just be seen as spending for spending’s sake.

The Argentinian international has a release clause in his contract of around £35million, but City are believed to have already agreed personal terms with the defender. The two clubs are also in negotiations to settle on a fee.

City signing Otamendi would come as a blow to city rivals Manchester United who have been interested in signing the defender since Louis van Gaal’s arrival last summer.

Will Manchester City sign De Bruyne and Otamendi this summer?
