Manchester City has received a boost in their bid to win the Premier League with the news that star striker Sergio Aguero has returned to training following a hamstring injury.

The Argentinian international has been sidelined since 3rd October when he was substituted in the Citizens 6-1 win over Newcastle, a game which the striker had scored five goals in.

He was substituted as a precaution, but sustained a different injury five days later playing for Argentina in a 2-0 defeat by Ecuador.

Aguero revealed his progress by posting on his Instagram account: “Giving it my all on recovery work. There’s still more to go but getting better by the day,”

After City’s recent goalless draw at rock-bottom Aston Villa on Sunday, City boss Manuel Pellegrini said about the striker: “We will see in the way he [Aguero] improves this week but I think he can be [fit after the international break]. It will be easier for us to have a striker,”

The striker’s absence had not been felt that badly until last time out against Villa. Aguero’s return to fitness could be very timely, with his replacement Wilfried Bony currently struggling with a similar injury Aguero’s.

The Ivorian picked-up the injury in the first half of the Villa game and means that the Citizens are short of forward options. That may be solved by the return of the electric Aguero.

Can Sergio Aguero hit the ground running on his return from injury?
