Manchester City are once again being linked with a swoop for Wolfsburg’s attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, with the Guardian claiming the Citizens are about to make a £57.1million move for the Belgian sensation.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a stellar campaign for the Wolves scoring ten goals and producing 22 assists in his first full season in the Bundesliga.
The midfielder had always been highly-rated and when he was at Chelsea was considered one of the brightest young players in European football.
However, De Bruyne struggled to play much first team football at Stamford Bridge and eventually moved to the German outfit in January 2014.
Despite his success in the German top-flight not everybody is such a big fan, as former-boss Jose Mourinho has questioned his mentality.
Talking about the in-demand midfielder the Portuguese boss told the Guardian: “He did not want a team where he thinks am I playing or not? He needs that trust, he needs that quality. He needs that security. So I was not happy when he left. So yes it’s not fair.”
Imagine that a young player actually wanting to play football. De Bruyne has shown what he can do when he has the trust of a manager at Wolfsburg. He has excelled and become one of the most in-demand players in the world game.
Every top player has confidence in their own ability and maybe that was what De Bruyne was displaying during his time at Chelsea.
For me De Bruyne would be a very signing for Manchester City and Mourinho may well regret selling the attacking midfielder.
Would Kevin De Bruyne be a good signing for City?
