Argentinian playmaker Angel Di Maria looks set for a move from Manchester United to PSG this summer

According to the Daily Mirror, big spending French outfit PSG are on the verge of completing the £45.9million signing of Manchester United playmaker Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria only joined United last summer for a British-record fee of £59.7million from Real Madrid.

His signing was something of a coup for the Red Devils, as the Argentinian had just helped Los Blancos win their tenth European Cup.

The previous campaign he had produced more assists than any player in the top five European leagues and was regarded as one of the most in form players of that season.

However, despite his success in Spain Di Maria has not found it easy to settle into life in the Premier League and reportedly life in England.

If Di Maria leaves the Red Devils he will be regarded as a flop, after spending just a season in England. His only season in English football yielded four goals and 11 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.

The Argentinian is still highly-rated in world football despite his struggles at Old Trafford and there were even reports suggesting that the midfielder may return to Real Madrid.

However, at the moment it seems that the former-Benfica star will be plying his trade in Ligue One with the club from the French capital in the new season.

United have been linked with a number of replacements for the Argentine, including Pedro of Barcelona and an audacious bid to sign German star Thomas Muller.

Either of those deals will likely not take place until after Di Maria has exited, which by reports could be in the very near future.

Will Angel Di Maria be considered a Premier League flop?

  1. PSG surely have the money to spend… They’re purchasing top players but lack team spirit.. they’ll keep on dominating in France but they won’t win the Champions League..
