Manchester City have been handed a potential injury blow after striker Sergio Aguero picked-up a hamstring injury on international duty with Argentina.

The 27-year-old was already carrying a knock heading into the clash, but it has been confirmed that this is a new problem.

The news is a major blow to City, as the striker scored five goals in the 6-1 win over Newcastle last time out. It seemed like he was back to best again, but the Citizens will now wait on results of a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

Aguero has been prone to picking-up hamstring in the past and it has caused him to miss a lot of action for City in the past few seasons.

Aguero was substituted just after the hour mark in City’s win over Newcastle as a precaution, because he was carrying a slight knock.

Argentina boss Gerardo Martino confirmed that the latest injury is a new one saying: “He had been carrying a knock with his club, during the week we took good care of him. He was moving around the pitch well, but unfortunately he felt some discomfort and we are going to lose him.

“I haven’t spoken to the doctor but I can confirm the injury is not the same as the one he had been carrying with his club.”

Will Sergio Aguero be involved in Manchester City’s next game?
