According to Sky Sports, West Brom have a rejected a £18million bid for striker Saido Berahino from Tottenham.

The Baggies hierarchy have stated they do intend to sell their prize asset this summer, despite Spurs interest in the England under-21 international.

Berahino enjoyed his breakthrough season in the last campaign scoring 14 Premier League goals and 20 goals in all competitions. The 22-year-old had broken into the first team the previous campaign, but it was not till last season he found his form.

His displays and goals last season obvious raised his profile in the English game and saw him linked with a number clubs, including Spurs and Liverpool.

It seems Tottenham are now keen to follow up their interest in the youngster.

Spurs are currently in desperate need of striking addition, with England international Harry Kane currently shouldering the burden of the Mauricio Pochettino’s sides attack.

Spanish Roberto Soldado has returned home and joined Villarreal, while Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to move on before the transfer window closes.

That leaves Tottenham with just two senior strikers in Kane and new signing Clinton N’Jie, who is more accustomed to playing on the wing.

If they are going to challenge for a top four spot then they need to strengthen their attacking options.

West Brom seems to be holding firm on Berahino, so Daniel Levy and co. may need to turn their attention elsewhere for a new striker, with QPR striker Charlie Austin mooted as a potential alternative option.

Will Saido Berahino join Tottenham this summer?
