Tottenham have sold Spanish striker Roberto Soldado to La Liga side Villarreal and replaced him with young Cameroon striker Clinton N’Jie from Ligue One Lyon, subject to international clearance.
Soldado had struggled to make an impact in North London, after moving to White Hart Lane from Valencia in a big money deal back in 2013.
The 30-year-old striker never seemed able to find his top form in the Premier League and has now reportedly cost Villarreal £10million.
Soldado was prolific in La Liga and will get the chance to revive his career in the Spanish top-flight once again this season.
The sale of Roberto Soldado left Spurs with little striking cover for first choice front man Harry Kane, as Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been told he does have a future for Mauricio Pochettino ‘s team.
The Argentinian has strengthened his strike-force with the signing of young Clinton N’Jie, for a reported fee of around £12million. The Cameroon international scored seven goals for the French club last season and is highly-rated.
No doubt he will initially be back-up to England international Kane, but he will be hoping to force his way into the Spurs starting line-up in the near future.
Spurs will be looking to kick-start their Premier League campaign with a win against Stoke City at White Hart Lane later today. They kicked-off their league campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United.
They will be looking for a better result and performance against the Potters.
