Roma have strengthened their attacking options this week by bringing in Bosnia international Edin Dzeko in on-loan from Manchester City. The deal could Premier League new boys secure one of their transfer targets.

Norwich boss Alex Neil admitted in his Friday press conference that the Canaries are interested in signing Italian striker Mattia Destro, who was once regarded as a superstar of the future.

Asked at the press conference if he was interested in Destro, the Scot said: “Yes he has been discussed – I didn’t know you knew about that one.”

The Canaries are lacking a Premier League standard forward. Cameron Jerome is first choice striker, but he has not exactly lit the top-flight up in previous stints. Then they have Lewis Grabban who has spent his career in the lower leagues.

Other strikers Ricky van Wolfswinkel and former-Celtic star Gary Hooper are both out of favour and have also failed to impress in the English top-flight in the past.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Canaries have mounted a £4.5million bid for Destro in an attempt to solve their striking problem. The striker has not quite lived-up to his early reputation and spent last season on-loan at AC Milan.

His temporary move to the Rossoneri yielded just three goals in 15 appearances and he is now expected to leave the Giallorossi permanently. The Canaries are believed to have competition for the Italian striker from Bologna.

Alex Neil and Norwich fans will be hoping that their club can secure the strikers signature, as the Canaries definitely did not fly in their opening day 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Will Norwich sign Mattia Destro from Roma?
