According to reports from Sky Italia, Premier League Stoke have agreed a £12million fee for Inter’s attacking midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss international only joined Inter in the January transfer window from Bayern Munich for a fee reported to be around £16million and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Nerazzurri.

However, he struggled to establish himself in Milan making just eight Serie A starts for Roberto Mancini’s team and scoring one goal. Inter themselves are busy strengthening their midfielder options and are now looking to offload the Swiss international.

At 23 years-old the midfielder already has a wealth of experience at both club and international level.

He has won two Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League with Bayern, while at international level he has scored 17 goals in 46 appearances for his national team. Shaqiri also impressed at the 2014 World Cup with Switzerland.

Prior to his move to Bayern he was considered one of the most exciting young attacking midfielders in the European game. However the wealth of midfield options in Bavaria have restricted his opportunities to impress on a regular basis.

The Yugoslavian-born star is a mercurial player and sometimes lacks consistency. On his day though he is very skilful and can be a match-winner. With the right guidance maybe he can fulfil his immense potential in the Premier League.

Shaqiri could well be one of the signings of the summer in the Premier League if he can find consistency in the English top-flight. Stoke fans will no doubt be delighted if the player does indeed agree a move to the Potteries.

Will Xherdan Shaqiri complete a move to Stoke?
