Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat needs to find a solution to his sides poor form

Sunderland suffered a highly-disappointing 3-1 defeat at home against newly-promoted Norwich on Saturday.

It was the second consecutive defeat for the side from the north east, after they suffered an opening day 4-2 defeat against Leicester.

The sight of a number of fans leaving the Stadium of Light in the first half summed-up the Black Cats display. Dutch boss Dick Advocaat needed to be heavily persuaded to take the Sunderland job on a permanent basis in the summer. The experienced Dutch boss may regret he took the job now.

Sunderland have a habit of starting seasons very slowly, which then leads to them to the inevitable relegation dogfight and great escapes. However the Black Cats cannot continue to push their luck. At some point it may just run out and they will be relegated.

The lack of desire and seemingly quality has been frightening from Sunderland so far this season. A home game against a newly promoted team should have been an opportunity for the Black Cats to kick-start their campaign.

Instead they were two goals down in the first 37 minutes and fans were leaving in their droves, as their team looked desperately poor.

Sunderland boss Advocaat needs to find a solution to their current poor form. If he does not then he could very well suffer by losing his job, just like so many previous saviours before him.

Then the cycle will begin again as another manager attempts to clear the Black Cats to safety.

Will this be the season that Sunderland is finally relegated?

  1. Thought Sunderland would be much better this season but following their start I think they’ll be fighting not to get relegated till the last day of the season..
