Ross Barkley impressed for Everton in the Toffees 3-0 win at Southampton on Saturday

Everton produced a fantastic display top see off Southampton 3-0 on Saturday, as Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku and England starlet Ross Barkley impressed at St Marys.

The Toffees finished 11th in the Premier League last season, as they concentrated on a decent run in the Europa League. No doubt Roberto Martinez’s side eye was taken off their Premier League campaign.

However the previous campaign the Toffees had enjoyed a good campaign finishing fifth in the Premier League table. They showed great consistency and attacking threat, which for much of their league campaign last season was missing.

That attacking threat returned at St Marys yesterday and Evertonians will be highly-encouraged by what they seen on the south coast. The Southampton fans will be less impressed by their team’s performances.

Barkley and Lukaku have the qualities to threaten the best of defences in the top-flight. They are two very bright young players, who endured difficult campaigns last season.

England starlet Ross Barkley has now scored two goals in two Premier League appearances.

The youngster is skilful, but perhaps needed to add goals to his game to develop his game. Barkley came in for criticism last season, but looks set to enjoy a better campaign.

After last season’s disappointing 11th place finish in the Premier League, the Toffees players look determined to produce a better season for the clubs fans.

If Lukaku and Barkley can keep performing then the Merseysider’s could be dangerous outsiders for a top four spot this season.
