Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling looks set for move to Manchester City

According to various sources, including Sky Sports, Manchester City have had a bid of around £49million accepted by Liverpool for England international Raheem Sterling.

The 20-year-old is set to travel to Manchester to have his medical later today and is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Citizens.

The move has been a protracted one, with Manuel Pellegrini’s club having already had two bids rejected by the Merseysider’s. The Reds were believed to be holding out for £50million and it appears they got most of that mooted fee.

Sterling is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in world football, but the price tag is a massive one. He will now have a big pressure on his shoulders to perform for the Citizens and the move is likely to raise his profile even higher.

The deal seems like a very good one for the Reds. I seemed like he was always going to leave once he stated that he did not wish to sign a new contract earlier this year.

It was just a matter of Liverpool waiting for an acceptable offer from City before agreeing to sell the youngster.

Liverpool fans in the main seem to believe that their club have done well for a player who is talented, but has not always looked overly convincing.

However for City the 20-year-old could just be the injection of excitement and energy that their ageing team needs to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title next season.

Will Raheem Sterling fulfil his potential at Manchester City?

  1. Money aside, this is a great move, Sterling is young, talented and English. I think the combination of Aguero and Sterling will be a fun watch. Besides it was time for a change, on both sides.

    • Yeah I agree it is a good move by City, but for me the £49million fee is a major gamble on a player whose attitude is not the best.

      • To be honest I think that Sterling won’t have a great career. Mind you, he does have the talent but his attitude is totally wrong… Look what’s happening to Balotelli, if he’s not careful he’ll end up in a similar situation.
