Son celebrates his first Tottenham goal in Spurs 3-1 Europa League victory over Qarabag

Tottenham opened their Europa League campaign with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Azerbaijan champions Qarabag at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.

The visitors took a surprise lead on seven minutes. Left-back Ansi Agolli was tripped by Kieran Trippier in the Spurs box and Ricardo Almeida scored from the resulting spot-kick.

Qarabag enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, but the Premier League side were back on level terms on 28 minutes. Andros Townsend found South Korean international Heung-Min Son in the six-yard box and the forward fired home his first goal as a Tottenham player.

It did not take the former-Bayer Leverkusen star long to double his goal tally, in fact just a few minutes. Dele Alli produced good footwork to get into the box before squaring it to Son, who fired the ball past Sehic in the Qarabag goal.

Alli was also denied by Sehic, after Townsend had put him through on goal. Spurs sealed their victory on 86 minutes. Erik Lamela had already hit the post early in the second half, but he got on the target late-on.

England striker Harry Kane won the ball back and found the Argentinian with a good through-ball.

The former-Roma star advanced on Sehic before brilliantly dinking the ball over the helpless Qarabag stopper. The win means that Spurs now top Group A, which also contains Monaco and Anderlecht.

How far can Tottenham go in the Europa League?
