Two Premier League strikers look set to move to pastures new in the near future.

A surprise move emerged in the last 24 hours, as according to Sky Sports Sunderland have accepted a £9million bid for striker Connor Wickham.

He is now expected in London later today to have a medical.

The 22-year-old has been far from prolific for the Black Cats since making a move from Ipswich, but is still highly-rated.

Wickham scored just six Premier League goals last season, but helped the Black Cats pull-off their annual great escape from relegation.

Although his goal return has been poor in the north east the England under-21 striker has a habit of scoring vital goals.

If he does make the move he will face stiff competition for a starting place at Selhurst Park, with the likes of Glenn Murray, Fraizer Campbell, Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle already in the Eagles squad.

Elsewhere Liverpool and England striker Rickie Lambert is close to joining Premier League rivals West Brom. The 33-year-old is due in the Midlands for a medical ahead of completing the move.

The former-Southampton striker has struggled for first team action at Anfield following his £4million move from the south coast last summer.

He scored just two goals in 25 Premier League appearances for the Reds last season, although 18 of those appearances came from the bench.

The arrival of Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Divock Origi has made his chances of playing football this season look very bleak. The striker is likely to play regularly for the Baggies and no doubt will thrive on first team football once again.

Will Wickham or Lambert be the better signing for their prospective new employers?
