According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are set to complete the signing of PSG and France midfielder Yohan Cabaye for a fee in the region of £10million, which could potentially rise to £13million with add-ons.

The midfielder is expected to undergo a medical later today in England ahead of completing the rather surprising move.

Cabaye has previous experience of playing in the Premier League, having spent two-and-a-half years with Newcastle in the English top-flight. His impressive displays for the Magpies lead to a big money move back to his native France with PSG in 2014.

However, he has been unable to maintain a regular first team place in the star-studded PSG side. The move to the Eagles is likely to see him secure first team football and link-up with Palace boss Alan Pardew, who he worked with at Newcastle.

Palace look to be on the up under Alan Pardew and last season the Eagles finished 10th in the Premier League last season and this signing is a clear signal of intent that they are seriously looking to progress in the future.

Even Palace fans will probably be surprised by this deal, as Cabaye is arguably good enough to play for a top six team. Despite the fact that Cabaye is 29-years old signing is something of a coup for the Eagles.

They have to be congratulated on their ambition and it could be a sign of start of brighter things ahead for London club in the future.

Are you surprised by Yohan Cabaye signing for Crystal Palace?
