No I am not talking about Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wasting another truckload of money on over-rated players this summer, just like he did last summer. To be fair it seems he has spent very well in the transfer market.

Anyway instead I am talking about the ridiculous situation that has occurred with Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling.

According to reports the youngster missed a second day of training, with the 20-year-old wanting to leave the Reds this summer.

Speculation in the last week has suggested that the problem Sterling has with the club is boss Brendan Rodgers, a claim which the club have strongly denied.

Manchester City have been circling the Merseyside club like vultures. The Citizens have already seen two bids rejected for the highly-rated youngster, but the 20-year-old seems like he has his heart set on a move away from Merseyside and will do anything to achieve it.

Sterling really has not put himself in a good light in this whole situation. Neither has his agent Aidy Ward, who is receiving criticism from every angle.

However the player has his own mind, even at 20 years-old. He may be influenced by his agent, but it is likely that Ward is following Sterling’s lead, as that is his job and not the other way round.

Liverpool now find themselves in a difficult situation. They have a highly-rated, if slightly over-valued player available to them, but he wants to leave and seemingly is refusing to train.

They have two options available to them. They either sell the unhappy Sterling to the highest bidder, which at the moment would be Manchester City. The other is to keep Sterling at the club and have a highly valuable unhappy player on their hands.

For the former option is the right thing for Liverpool. No one player should be bigger than a football club and Sterling has turned his future into a circus.

Some rather unkind Reds supporters may have called Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers a clown last season, but hopefully he is not a fool and the situation will be sorted out soon.

Should Liverpool sell Raheem Sterling this summer?
