According to the Daily Express, Premier League Arsenal and Manchester United are set to fight it out for Bayer Leverkusen’s Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, who is reportedly rated in the £29million bracket.

Calhanoglu has impressed with his performances for Leverkusen and Turkey this season. Scouts from both clubs are believed to have watched the man hailed as ‘the next Mesut Ozil’.

His German club are not keen on selling their star assets, who is a dead-ball specialist. However, Bayer chief executive Michael Schade has revealed that the club may have to sell the youngster. Schade told Bild: “We want to keep Hakan, but with us there is a pain threshold.”

Asked if £29million would be enough to prise the youngster away from the club and asked about interest from English clubs, he continued by saying: “I see that and I am calm and relaxed.”

English clubs are not alone in their admiration for the Turkey international though, as Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move for the versatile star.

It seems Leverkusen will not be able to hang on to their Turkish midfield star for much longer, with the big European vultures circling.

Will Hakan Calhanoglu leave Leverkusen in the near future?
