According to Barcelona director of football Robert Fernandez, the reigning European champions could be interested in signing Celta Vigo’s in-form winger Nolito.
The Spanish international has been linked with a move to Barcelona since the summer and Fernandez has now revealed that the Spanish champions are interested in the in-demand star.
Talking about Nolito, Fernandez told Spanish radio station RAC1: “It’s a real possibility. He’s a good player, he’s in a rich vein of form and he’s playing for Spain, which is always an instructive factor.
“We know all about his situation, but there are lots of other options. We have a long hit list.”
However talking about the January transfer window he said: “We’re very confident and comfortable with what we have. The winter window isn’t a good time to do business; it’s a very difficult market.”
Nolito has been in fantastic form over the last few seasons and this season has scored seven goals and produced four assists. He was at Barcelona prior to his success at Celta, but a return to his former-club for the 29-year-old would be a vindication of his talent.
A move to Barcelona would mean competing with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar for a place in their star-studded attack, which could mean a lot of time on the substitutes bench.
It remains to be seen if Nolito would want that after his productive spell at Celta, although he has expressed his love of the Catalan club in the past.
Will Barcelona sign Nolito in the near future?
