Chelsea claimed the Premier League title on Sunday with a very nervy 1-0 home victory over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues failed to make much of an impact in the first half, but finally made a breakthrough on the stroke of the half-time whistle.

Eden Hazard danced through the Crystal Palace defence, before Eagles midfielder James McArthur brought the midfielder down in the penalty area.

The PFA Player of the Year stepped-up to take the penalty kick himself and saw Julian Speroni parry it, only for the attacking midfielder to head home the rebound.

His celebration of pretending to wipe his brow revealed a lot about the midfielder’s relief at scoring at the second attempt.

The second half produced little goalmouth action, as the Blues produced a cagey display. Winger Jason Puncheon fired just wide of goal for Palace, while Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois came out well at the feet of Wilfried Zaha.

Veteran Chelsea striker Didier Drogba fired wide of goal, while Brazilian midfielder Willian also shot wide of goal with Speroni struggling to get to his effort.

In the end the Blues did just enough to claim the title winning victory, after boss Jose Mourinho put on defensive reinforcements in Kurt Zouma and John Obi Mikel.

Chelsea have been criticised for their style of play in the last few months, but at the start of the campaign played some very easy on the eye football.

No team wins a league title without having to grind out some results along the way and the Blues are just better at it than their rivals.

Were Chelsea deserved winners of the Premier League title?
