England boss Roy Hodgson must make the right decisions to help the Three Lions have an impact at Euro 2016

England have qualified for Euro 2016 with ease, after winning 6-0 in San Marino yesterday to maintain their hundred per cent record.

The highlights of the game were Wayne Rooney equalling Bobby Charlton’s record of 49 goals for his country and a brace from substitute Theo Walcott.

In truth, the Three Lions qualification for France 2016 never looked in doubt. They were handed a comfortable group, and as per usual they qualified. England have qualified for most of major international tournaments with ease in recent years.

However, it is when the Three Lions get to actual competition that things tend to go pear-shaped. They seem unable to cope with any team, who are well organised, or have a modicum of talent.

Last year’s World Cup in Brazil illustrated that perfectly, as Roy Hodgson’s team picked-up just one point from a group involving Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

England were poor, buy Hodgson still kept his job, despite a number of questionable team selections and tactical errors.

The Three Lions have struggled to make an impact at big tournaments, because the players in white shirts suddenly forget how to past the ball to each other.

All the best teams in the world play possession football, while the England players seem to treat the ball like a hot potato and attempt to get rid of it as fast they can.

England have some highly-rated young players in their squad, in the likes of Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley and Harry Kane, but they are often not deployed to the best of their ability.

As an England fan I just hope that the Three Lions can make more of an impact at Euro 2016 than they have at recently tournaments, because they have flattered to deceive at every major in the last decade.

Can England make an impact at Euro 2016?
