According to the Sunday People, Premier League Everton are keeping tabs on Burnley’s highly-rated young centre-back Michael Keane.

The Toffees have sent chief scout Kevin Reeves to watch the £4million-rated defender on two occasions and he has reportedly received glowing reports from Reeves.

The Toffees are currently short of centre-backs with England international and captain Phil Jagielka out of action until Boxing Day. That leaves Everton with just two fit centre-backs in Ramiro Funes Mori and John Stones.

Even without the injury to Jagielka, Everton looked short of cover it seems that Keane may be the man that Toffees boss Roberto Martinez sees as an ideal addition to his defensive options.

Keane started his professional career at Manchester United, but has only really established himself at Turf Moor. With John Stones still being linked with a big money January move to Chelsea, Keane looks to be a realistic transfer target for the Toffees.

Everton are not the only team to be linked with the centre-back though, as Swansea are also reportedly interested in signing Keane. Swans boss Garry Monk is believed to be looking for support for captain Ashley Williams at the heart of his defence.

Would Michael Keane be a good signing for Everton?
