Everton pair Muhamed Besic and Seamus Coleman are set to undergo scans on hamstring injuries picked-up in the Toffees 3-1 victory over reigning champions Chelsea on Saturday.

Bosnian international midfielder Besic lasted just nine minutes against the Blues, before limping off and being replaced by hat-trick hero Steven Naismith. It was the midfielder’s first Premier League appearance of the season.

Coleman sustained his injury late in the second half and was replaced by debutant Ramiro Funes Mori, who looked assured on his debut.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez will be hoping that the pair are fit for Saturday’s tricky trip to Swansea. The Toffees boss told Evertontv: “Forty-eight hours after the game, we’re quite positive in the way Mo and Seamus feel,”

“I think Seamus felt a lot better than Mo immediately after the game but we’re going to get the scans done today so we have a clear idea.

“I don’t think it looks as bad as we feared once it happened but we’ll get more information as the week goes on and we’ll see how long a period we’re looking at for the two players.”

If Besic does not recover in time for the Swansea game then he is likely to be replaced by his replacement on Saturday Naismith, who fired home a hat-trick against Jose Mourinho’s side.

Will Besic and Coleman feature for Everton this weekend?
