Liverpool midfielder and captain Jordan Henderson has flew to the US in a bid to find a solution to the heel injury which he picked-up in the 1-0 home win over Bournemouth.

The injury has prevented the England midfielder from featuring in the Reds last three Premier League games.

Henderson travelled to New York on Monday to meet with orthopaedic specialist Dr James Cozzarelli. It is being reported that the 25-year-old will receive treatment, but is unlikely to have surgery on the injury at this stage.

The Liverpool coaching staff were hoping that Henderson would be able to feature after international break, but he could now be set to spend more time on the sidelines through the injury.

Since the midfielder picked-up the injury his team have collected just one point from a possible nine in the top-flight.

Liverpool have received slightly better news on former-Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana, who has resumed training following a thigh injury.

Lallana is now expected to play some part in the Reds home game against Norwich on Sunday. However, the Reds Europa League trip to France to take on Bordeaux may have come too soon for the England international.

Is Jordan Henderson’s absence having a negative effect on the Liverpool team?
