Newcastle have slumped to eight consecutive Premier League defeats under John Carver

Everything at Newcastle United seems to have gone wrong in recent months.

Yesterday the Magpies suffered a 3-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Leicester and were reduced to nine-men.

The side from the north east are now just two points outside the relegation zone.

The defeat was the Magpies eighth consecutive defeat in the Premier League and it is hard to see where their next point is coming from. Newcastle boss John Carver is clearly out of his depth as a Premier League manager.

You have to feel for those long suffering Magpies fans, who are being short-changed by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.

When experienced boss Alan Pardew left the club for Crystal Palace earlier in the season, Ashley decided to hand the reigns of the club to long-time coach Carver.

Carver’s appointment was greeted by disapproval by most Newcastle fans. They knew that their new boss had limited managerial experience.

The Newcastle native was no doubt the cheap option for the job and it could end up costing the club more than expected.

The battle at the bottom of the Premier League has now become very tight. Newcastle are now very much in that fight for survival.

John Carver is not a Premier League manager and he has proven that in the way he has managed the team in his reign so far. Other clubs such as Aston Villa, West Brom and maybe even Sunderland have benefited from new bosses this year.

Newcastle on the other hand could be playing in the Championship next season because their chairman decided to choose the cheap managerial option.

Will Newcastle pay the price for taking the cheap option?
