Nigel Pearson is no longer the Leicester boss after being sacked by the clubs board

In a surprise move the Leicester City owners have sacked boss Nigel Pearson, after an alleged ‘breakdown in working relationships’ between the boss and the Leicester board.

The decision will come as a shock to Leicester fans as Pearson was a very popular figure at the club.

The 51-year-old helped the club to promotion the season before last and helped the Foxes perform a spectacular escape from the Premier League relegation zone last season.

The Foxes played some decent football, but were at the bottom of the table for a long period of the campaign. However, they mounted a survival bid which saw the Midlanders win seven out of their last nine league games to finish 14th in the league table.

Pearson was involved in a number of clashes last season, which may have contributed to his dismissal, including swearing at a Foxes fan, having a touchline skirmish with Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur and calling a journalist an ostrich.

The final straw for the Foxes board may have been the actions of Pearson’s son James, who was on the clubs books as a player. Pearson junior was involved in an incident while with the Foxes on the clubs tour of Thailand.

He along with two other players were sacked, following an incident involving Thai prostitutes. The actions and sacking of James Pearson may have caused the tension between the Leicester boss and the clubs board.

The hunt will now be on for the clubs next boss, but the club have not got much time with the kick-off of the new season just over a month away.

Should Leicester have kept hold of Nigel Pearson?
