Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will be looking for his team to produce a better than on the opening day against Tottenham

Aston Villa host Premier League title hopefuls Manchester United at Villa Park tonight in what could be a difficult game for the visitors.

United started the season with a very unconvincing 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford, with the only goal of the game an own goal from England full-back Kyle Walker.

In truth United struggled to create much and Spurs were arguably the better team overall.

It was not the opening day performance that United fans, or their ego-centric boss Louis van Gaal would have expected after such big-spending this summer. Red Devils fans will be hoping that their team is just getting started.

They will be looking for more from their team, especially highly-rated Dutch winger Memphis Depay, who arrived in a blaze of publicity from PSV in the summer. He enjoyed a quiet debut.

Aston Villa are much-changed this season, after Villans boss Tim Sherwood dusted-off the clubs chequebook.

He used the cash brought in by the sales of star players Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph to re-shape his squad. The former-Tottenham boss does not seem to have done a bad job strengthening his squad.

Villa’s latest signing, as talked about in yesterday’s article is Barcelona winger Adama Traore. The 19-year-old may not make his debut against United, but looks like an exciting signing.

Villa produced a decent performance in their opening game of the season, winning 1-0 at newly-promoted Bournemouth.

New signing Rudy Gestede made an instant impact by coming off the bench and scoring the winner. The former-Blackburn striker could be rewarded with a starting role in this clash.

The Villans look like a very different team from last season and if United are not on their game then they could just take advantage of any slip-ups from Van Gaal’s men.

Can Aston Villa upset United at Villa Park?
