Barcelona winger Pedro is reportedly in England to complete a move to Premier League champions Chelsea

In a surprise move Pedro looks set to join Chelsea from Barcelona and according to Sky Sports the winger has flown to England to complete a £21.1million move to the Premier League champions.

Prior to the Blues agreeing terms with the European champions for the forward he was expected to join Manchester United.

However, it is Chelsea who looks to have won the race for the World Cup winner, who was largely in the shadows of South American superstars Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar last season at Barca.

Pedro only signed a new contract with the European champions at the end of the season, which included a minimum fee release. That release clause has now allowed Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea to make a move for the Spaniard.

The Blues look desperate to strengthen their squad prior to the transfer window shutting in September.

The Premier League champions have made a sluggish start to their campaign so far, losing the Community Shield and also suffering a defeat against Manchester City last time out.

One point from their opening two league games is not exactly the form of champions. It seems that the Blues have responded to their poor start to the campaign by attempting to strengthen their squad.

The Blues are still believed to be interested in signing Everton centre-back John Stones, but it seems the Merseysider’s are holding firm, after rejecting a bid of around £30million for the England international youngster.

The Toffees themselves are reported to have agreed a fee of around £5.5million with River Plate for defender Ramiro Funes Mori. However, those reports have yet to be confirmed by club officials.

Is Chelsea the right move for Pedro?
