West Brom striker Saido Berahino revealed on social media that he would not play for the club again while Jeremy Peace remained in charge

There were plenty of Premier League players reportedly wanting to leave their current employers this summer that were forced at gun point, or by their contracts to stay with their current clubs.

The likes of Victor Wanyama at Southampton, John Stones at Everton and David de Gea at Manchester United have all handled their situations with a bit of professionalism.

However, there was one who did not take his clubs unwillingness to sell him with such good grace. That individual is West Brom striker Saido Berahino, who was looking for a move to Tottenham, only for Spurs to see three bids rejected for his services.

The 22-year-old took to social media to exclaim that he would never play again under Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace, which was a rather silly thing to do, especially when the transfer window has just closed.

The striker has since been given a leave of absence and pictures of him on a private jet have not gone down well with Baggies fans. Those pictures have provoked West Brom fans to call for him to be dropped into the reserves.

The striker must realise that he is now at a club, where he is unwanted by the majority of the clubs fans and club hierarchy too. There are even rumours that he is unpopular in the dressing room at the Hawthorns.

Saido Berahino has made himself very vulnerable by airing his grievances in public and when he returns from leave he is set to receive a very frosty welcome from his club.

Should Berahino have kept his thoughts to himself?

Will David de Gea return to the United first team after being named in the Champions League squad?

Now the dust has settled on the non-transfer of David de Gea from Manchester United to Real Madrid, everybody will now be asking what now for David de Gea?

De Gea has been included in Manchester United’s 25-man Champions League squad, despite not featuring in any of United’s first team games this season.

A move to Spanish giants Real Madrid had been speculated for much of the summer and the last minute collapse of the big money transfer has left the Spaniard in an awkward position.

To be fair to the 24-year-old he has not disrespected his club like some other players looking for a move.

He has never said that he would not play, or give his all for the Red Devils instead he has kept his own counsel.

De Gea may want to move back to his home country and indeed city, but he has always been professional, with claims coming out of De Gea’s camp that he wanted to play in United’s opening games of the campaign.

It remains to be seen if De Gea will ever play for United again. However his inclusion in the Champions League squad suggests that he may well be selected for the first team in the near future.

United boss Louis van Gaal would be a fool not to consider De Gea for first team duties. He is one of the best ‘keepers in world football and unlike some players I do believe he would go out and try his best for United until that move away materialises.

De Gea will inevitably sign for Real Madrid, probably next summer, but until then united should make use of their two-time Player of the Year, because he is highly professional and is unlikely to give anything less than 100 per cent.

Should United boss Van Gaal pick David de Gea?

Manchester United ‘keeper David de Gea could finally complete a big money move to Real Madrid

According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are set to allow Spanish ‘keeper David de Gea to join Spanish giants Real Madrid before the transfer window shuts, which in Europe is Monday at 11.59pm.

De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants for much of the summer, after it became clear that De Gea was not going to extend his contract at Old Trafford.

With less than 12 months left on his United contract a move to Real was almost inevitable.

It seemed like United were set to keep hold of the highly-rated and almost certainly lose the Spain international next summer.

However De Gea could now be heading to the Spanish capital with United reportedly looking for £29million, while Rafa Benitez’s side are hoping to tie up a deal for £18million.

De Gea is out in the cold at the moment and has not featured for the Red Devils because of the doubts about his future at the club.

United have kept three clean sheets in their first three Premier League games, with Argentinian Sergio Romero looking solid in goal.

De Gea’s compatriot Victor Valdes is another out-of-favour player being linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The former-Barcelona star looked to be heading for the Turkish top-flight with Besiktas, but reports suggest that the move may not now be completed.

Valdes will be looking to make a move before the transfer deadline after not being involved in a United squad this season just like De Gea.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has left ‘keeper David de Gea out in the cold

Manchester United’s highly-rated Spanish ‘keeper David de Gea was left out of the Red Devils starting line-up for Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Argentinian international Sergio Romero was selected ahead of the Spaniard.

The former-Sampdoria ‘keeper produced a solid display and kept a clean sheet on competitive his debut, despite not having played any football during pre-season.

United boss Louis van Gaal claimed that De Gea had lacked focus in training and that is why he was not selected for the Spurs game. However it is being reported that the player himself believed he was ready to play against Spurs.

The whole situation is not good for United boss Van, who also this summer exiled De Gea’s compatriot Victor Valdes from the United squad. The Dutchman now seems to have two international goalkeepers who are not going to be used this season.

That leaves Van Gaal having to use Romero as his number one until he sees fit to bring De Gea back into the fold, if indeed he has any future at Old Trafford. That now looks unlikely.

The 24-year-old has won the clubs Player of the Year award for the last two seasons, but has less than a year left to run on his contract. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for the talented ‘keeper, but it seems that United do not want to do business with the Spanish giants.

David de Gea could now face a season on the sidelines at United, unless Van Gaal changes his mind and selects the Spaniard. Either way Real Madrid are likely to snap-up the talented ‘keeper for nothing next summer.

Should Manchester United sell David De Gea?

Manchester United have signed Argentinian international ‘keeper Sergio Romero on a free transfer and given him a three-year contract

Manchester United have completed the free transfer of Argentinian ‘keeper Sergio Romero.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Red Devils and the option of a fourth year is also included in the deal.

The ‘keeper was a free agent after his contract with Italian outfit Sampdoria expired earlier this month.

Romero has already gathered a wealth of experience in his career and played at last year’s World Cup with his national side. His club career has seen him play in Holland with AZ Alkmaar, Italy with Sampdoria and Monaco in France.

His club career has slightly stalled in recent seasons, as he made just 11 appearances last season for Sampdoria, after spending the previous season on-loan at Monaco and only making nine appearances for the Ligue One side.

The arrival of Romero will increase speculation over the future of United’s Spanish ‘keeper David De Gea, who has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

United boss Louis van Gaal even admitted he signed Romero in case Los Blancos attempted to sign the Spaniard. Van Gaal told the media: “We have to prepare our season with the threat that David De Gea is going to Real Madrid,”

If De Gea stays at Old Trafford then Romero is likely to be back-up for the Spaniard, as second choice ‘keeper Victor Valdes has been told he is free to find another club.

The former Barcelona ‘keeper was left out of the Red Devils squad for their US tour after reportedly refusing to play in a reserve match.

Spanish international ‘keeper Victor Valdes has been told he can leave Manchester United this summer

Manchester United could be in something of a ‘keeper dilemma this summer, after boss Louis van Gaal revealed that former-Barcelona star Victor Valdes will be sold.

Couple that with speculation that Spanish giants Real Madrid are still interested in first choice number one David de Gea, the Red Devils could be left very short in the goalkeeping department in the new campaign.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Tottenham’s French international Hugo Lloris, but the former-Lyon star is currently sidelined through injury. Lloris is highly-rated and Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of him ahead of the new season.

United have also been linked with former-Sampdoria ‘keeper Sergio Romero, who is a free agent this summer. The 28-year-old made just 11 appearances for the Italian side last season, after spending the previous campaign on-loan at Monaco.

In truth Romero’s performances for his country have been better than those at club level. However that may be due to a lack of opportunities.

Meanwhile Valdes is now free to find a new club. The Spanish international only joined the Red Devils as a free agent in January after spending time with the club recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament.

Valdes has fallen-out-of-favour with Van Gaal after refusing to play in a reserve team game. Ironically Spanish outfit Valencia have both Valdes and Romero on their summer transfer wishlist.

United have been busy in the transfer market this summer and it seems the overhaul of the Red Devils squad is not yet complete.

Who will be United’s number one in the new campaign?

Spanish goalkeeping legend Iker Casillas is set to join Portuguese side Porto from Real Madrid, after the two clubs agreed a fee and the player struck an agreement over personal terms.

The move was announced in a press conference on Saturday and the veteran ‘keeper did not attempt to he hide his emotions as tears flowed.

Casillas has been with Los Blancos since he was just nine years old and progressed through the clubs youth ranks. He has enjoyed a trophy-laden career at Real, having won La Liga on five occasions and the Champions League three times, amongst other trophies.

The 34-year-old has made over 700 appearances for the club, but his relationship with the fans and the Real Madrid hierarchy has not exactly been a perfect one in recent years. He has endured being dropped from the first team and even been booed by his own fans.

However, he has to be regarded as a Real Madrid legend, even if his mum did her best to ruin that status by criticising Real Madrid, new club Porto and even heaping praise on bitter-rivals Barcelona.

Casillas’ move could launch a chain reaction with Los Blancos now likely to step-up their bid for Manchester United ‘keeper David de Gea.

The Spanish international is out of contract next summer and Real were widely expected to complete a deal earlier in the summer for highly-rated ‘keeper.

However, they have not yet been able to agree a fee with the Red Devils, but the departure of Casillas will mean that Los Blancos are now in need of a top ‘keeper and De Gea seems like he fits the bill.

Is moving to Porto a good move for Casillas?

Manchester United have launched a big money bid to sign Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have launched a £28.6million bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

It is being reported that Ramos has his heart set on leaving the Spanish capital this summer.

The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish giants and seems to have made it clear that he wants to enter into negotiations with the Red Devils.

Real had been linked with a move for United ‘keeper David de Gea, but it seems the highly-rated former Atletico Madrid star is unlikely to be involved in any big money deal for Ramos, who has two years left on his contract.

Coleman

Another defender being linked with a move to United by seemingly every publication known to man is Everton and Republic of Ireland full-back Seamus Coleman.

Reports on Sky Sports claim that the Red Devils are set to launch a £15million bid for the 26-year-old.

Coleman has been one of the most consistent right-backs in the Premier League in recent seasons and seems to be an ideal signing for United.

Louis van Gaal’s side were also looking at England full-back Nathaniel Clyne, but it seems the Southampton full-back is heading for Liverpool.

Everton are unlikely to lose their marauding full-back easily and the £15million bid is likely to be rejected. This deal could very well depend on whether the player himself pushes for the move, as he seems committed to his current employers.

Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos has reportedly asked to leave the Spanish giants

According to the Guardian, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos wants to leave the Spanish capital this summer.

The Spanish international has recently been heavily linked with a big money move to Premier League Manchester United.

It is being reported that Ramos held a meeting with the Real Madrid hierarchy on Wednesday morning to ask the club to listen to any offers put in for him.

The 29-year-old has been at Real for the last decade and has a release clause in his contract of around £128million.

The Spanish giants claim they have yet to receive a bid for the controversial defender. Ramos has two years left on his current deal at the Bernabeu, but it is looks unlikely that he will enter talks over a new deal.

One possible solution that has been mooted is a swap-deal involving United’s Spanish ‘keeper David de Gea, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since last January.

The ‘keeper has just a year left on his contract at Old Trafford and is expected to leave United this summer.

A swap deal would seem like an ideal scenario, but any swap deal is unlikely to be an easy one, with both clubs seemingly reluctant to sell their players.

Sergio Ramos at 29-years-old would add a wealth of experience to the United defence, but the loss of De Gea would also be a big blow to Louis van Gaal’s team. Signing the experienced Spaniard would definitely cushion the blow of losing De Gea though.

Could Manchester United use ‘keeper David de Gea as part of a deal to sign Gareth Bale?

A few days ago I wrote a story about Manchester United ‘keeper David De Gea being linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer.

The deal now seems almost inevitable, but the Red Devils could gain something from asking about Gareth Bale’s availability in any possible deal.

Obviously Real will not want to lose money on the winger, but the Welshman does not currently seem happy in the Spanish capital. Bale has been mooted as a possible transfer target for Manchester United this summer.

Former-Manchester United stalwart Gary Neville has suggested that De Gea be used as a makeweight in any deal for Bale.

That does not look out of the realms of possibility at the moment with both players situations.

De Gea’s contract situation means that a fee of around £15million has been mooted for the ‘keeper, as he has just over a year left on his current contract.

United have attempted to extend De Gea’s contract, but have been unable to come to an agreement with the 24-year-old.

That means that United look to be in the difficult position of selling the Spaniard now, or risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Manchester United could use the situation to their advantage though. They could get one of the most highly-rated players in world football and for a knockdown fee. Maybe the big question is will Real be willing to part with the winger this summer?

All the noises coming of Madrid say that Los Blancos want to keep Bale, but the player himself seems to becoming increasingly marginalised in Spain.

He may request a move and it is likely that the Premier League would be his preferred destination. Watch this space!
