Argentinian centre-back Federico Fazio looks set to move to West Brom from Tottenham

Tottenham and Argentina centre-back Federico Fazio is having a medical at West Brom after the two clubs agreed a fee of around £5million for the defender.

The 28-year-old only joined the north London club in 2014 from La Liga side Sevilla, but it seems he is on the move once again.

He has been displaced from the Spurs team by the summer arrival of Belgian centre-back Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid.

Fazio has not even been included on the bench for Spurs in their opening two games, despite playing in 32 games last season in all competitions.

Austrian centre-back Kevin Wimmer also arrived at the club this summer, so there is added competition for a starting spot at centre-back at Spurs. Fazio appears to even be behind the former-Cologne in the defensive pecking order at north London.

Wes Brom have already moved to reinforce their defensive ranks this summer by bringing in James Chester from Hull, but boss Tony Pulis looks to looking to further strengthen at the heart of his defence before he transfer window shuts.

Former-England international Joleon Lescott had earlier in the transfer window been linked with the Baggies Midlands rivals Aston Villa.

It had been suggested earlier this week that Fazio would be used as part of a deal for West Brom striker Saido Berahino, who Spurs are interested in signing this summer.

However, it now seems that the Fazio deal will be completed regardless of Berahino’s situation.

Will Federico Fazio be a good signing for West Brom?
