Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon looks set for a move to West Brom

According to Sky Sports, West Brom are on the verge of the £15million signing of Zenit St Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon.

The Venezuelan star looks set to travel to the Midlands next week to discuss personal terms and have a medical.

His signing would be an exciting one for the Baggies, who have already been busy in the transfer market this summer.

Rondon has been prolific in his recent stint in European football. Last season the 25-year-old scored 20 goals in 37 appearances for Russian giants Zenit. Rondon had also found the net 20 times in 30 appearances in the previous campaign.

He also has a decent goalscoring record at international level for Venezuela, having scored 13 times in 39 appearances for his country.

The powerful forward had spent the previous five seasons in La Liga and proved very successful in the Spanish top-flight. Rondon had previously been heavily linked with a move to West Brom’s Premier League rivals Everton.

Rondon is the Midlands clubs seventh signing of the season. He could be partnering fellow new boy England Rickie Lambert this season.

The pair look unlikely to be playing alongside Nigerian striker Brown Ideye, who looks set to leave the club with Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev interested in signing the clubs record-signing.

The Baggies are hoping that former-England international defender Joleon Lescott will sign a one-year contract at the Hawthorns. The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to local rivals Aston Villa.

Will Salomon Rondon be a good signing for West Brom?
